Job Title: Laboratory Manager

Location: Stevenage

Salary: c£40k

The Job:

The Laboratory Manager is in charge of the different domains within a large laboratory, excluding all indirect functions within the laboratory. The Laboratory Manager ensures that workflow is efficient and cost effective.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure timely completion in the Laboratory of all work within the scope of the team by:
  • Supervising and coordinating to ensure full utilisation of technician capabilities
  • Prioritizing to accommodate turn-around times (target is 5 days)
  • Managing overtime & subcontracting reduction to meet both P&L targets and customer expectations
  • Coordinating efforts in the development of automated procedures into the Lab
• Automate production process & Improve productivity of the labs
• Implement the investment plan into the Laboratory
• Reduce the subcontracting expenditure & reduce the number of sub-contractors
• Provide a strong customer service focused on customers’ satisfaction for both internal and external customers

 Attributes:

• Technical diploma/degree
• Electrical and Mechanical background with extensive calibration knowledge
• UKAS certification
• Five years minimum experience with test and measurement instrumentation
• A sense of urgency, strong results orientation and highly proactive
• Very operational
• Good planning skills
• Hands on style
