Control Systems Engineer

Flow Control are currently recruiting for as an experienced Control Systems Engineer in Staffordshire.
Reporting directly to the Controls Engineering Manager your main responsibilities will include designing electrical systems utilizing PLC controls and servo drives for machine tool and automation projects.

Specifically you will be responsible for: • Preparing electrical detailed drawings in AutoCAD LT and/or EPLAN P8. Liaise with shopfloor to determine the machine cable path routing and lengths. Updating fluidics detail drawings in AutoCAD LT and/or EPLAN P8. Preparing electrical and fluidics Bill of Materials (BOM’s). Preparing machine documentation (e.g. user manuals). Ensure machine control system design meets to customer specifications and applicable standards (e.g. EN60204).
Must have skills: design 400V 3 phase electrical systems, design 24VDC control circuits, design of distributed IO systems in Profinet or Profibus, design safety circuits (e.g. PILZ safety relays, failsafe PLCs)

Additional desirable skills: good understanding of PLC and drive systems design following manufacturer recommendations, technical documentation writing skills Person Specification, Self-motivated individual who can work on own initiative, Able to work under minimal supervision and to tight deadlines, Able to work on more than one project at one time due to a number of machines being built concurrently, Fluent in English and another language would be advantageous such as French / Spanish / German. Good organizational and communication skills Preference will be given to candidates who have a machine tool, automotive or automation background.

The salary attached to this position will be £40,000-48,000 per annum plus overtime and additional bonuses.
